However, Hopkins is a small town with only about 11,000 people living there, as per recent estimates from US Census Bureau. The Hopkins Police Department has been serving the Hopkins area since 1887. The department is staffed by 17 full-time employees, including a chief of police and one lieutenant who oversees patrol operations.
