What To Do
First and foremost, make sure your family, friends and pets are safe, secure, and healthy. When deemed safe to exit the place you have been sheltered in place, assess the damage to your property to see if you’re in need of Little Rock Tornado Cleanup help. Service Restoration recommends calling a restoration company with experience in assessing wind, storm, and tornado damage. Your property may be perfectly fine and we are hoping that is the case! If it’s not, you may just need temporary repairs or you may need to undergo a more extensive restoration process.
Tornadoes can cause extensive damage due to the high wind speeds, throwing heavy objects around, and causing trees to fall. If your home experiences an opening that is not usually there, rain, flooding streams, and other elements can enter your property. If this is the case, you may need water mitigation in addition to the temporary repairs. Little Rock Tornado Cleanup and temporary repairs will ensure no further damage can occur from water or other elements continuing to enter the property until it can be properly put back together.
Little Rock Water Damage Cleanup
What happens if you do experience water damage? Calling Service Restoration for an initial inspection will help to establish a plan of action. Temporary repairs can be made to ensure no further elements are entering your property. Then, mitigation will begin right. Service Restoration offers Content Cleaning and Restoration and can move your contents to a safe location for restoration and cleaning, if needed. Now that the obstacles have been removed, water extraction can begin. Using commercial extractors, we will remove water as fast as possible to minimize further damage from occurring. Unsalvageable flooring will be removed. Next, we address the extent of water damage on the walls. The amount of damage will be different at each property and each loss. Again, we will remove any unsalvageable materials that will hamper the drying process.
Once the damage from the walls is removed (if needed), Service Restoration will set commercial grade drying equipment to stabilize and begin removing moisture from salvageable materials. Spare bedroom fans and/or dehumidifiers do not have the required air movement or moisture draw required to dry out your property and avoid secondary damage. Read more below:
Drying Equipment – Commercial vs. Residential
- Home dehumidifiers often remove between 20-30 pints of moisture per day
- Standard oscillating fans have roughly 1,850 CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air movement
- Commercial Grade Dehumidifiers remove upwards of 120 pints of moisture per day
- Commercial grade air movers have over 2,800 CFM
Usually, multiple air movers are needed per affected room. The amount of dehumidifiers per room or per job again depends on the size of the loss, extent of the damage, layout of the property, and the drying conditions. The drying process is based on size of loss, amount of damaged area, and layout of affected rooms.
Next, using moisture meters, Service Restoration will monitor the drying process to make sure the property is drying down. Equipment is removed as the drying process commences in each affected area. Equipment may run longer in certain rooms due to multiple variables. Little Rock water damage is not always easy to mitigate. It is imperative to find a company with experience and a great reputation because you and your property deserve it. Once the materials in your property has achieved an equilibrium moisture content level, the equipment in those areas is removed. We work directly with your insurance provider to eliminate billing headaches. Our Little Rock Tornado Cleanup services are available and on standby.
